Annual curriculum

Premium Plus curriculum

A high-level engineering route in which children combine CAD/CAM, laser cutting, CNC introduction and the full engineering workflow. Everything happens step by step and under guidance.

Who is this curriculum for?

For children who want to experience the full engineering route: designing, building, testing, improving and presenting professionally.

Premium Plus builds on Premium and adds an introduction to CAD/CAM, laser cutting, CNC thinking and design-to-manufacturing. Where equipment or production methods are involved, this happens as an introduction and under guidance, depending on planning and availability.

What does your child learn this year?

A clear learning path with hands-on assignments.

The year is structured into learning periods. Each period combines explanation, demonstration, guided practice and project-based work, so your child understands what they are building and why it works.

  • analyzing a technical problem and determining requirements
  • turning sketches into a design
  • getting acquainted with CAD and CAM thinking
  • understanding what CNC and laser cutting mean
  • combining electronics, code and mechanical design
  • testing and improving reliability
  • presenting a prototype professionally

Year structure / modules

Four learning periods from fundamentals to final project.

Period 1

From idea to technical design

  • Analyzing the problem
  • Determining requirements
  • Sketching and technical thinking
  • CAD basics
  • Explaining design choices

Period 2

CAD/CAM and digital production

  • Creating CAD models
  • Understanding CAM thinking
  • What is CNC?
  • What is laser cutting?
  • Preparing designs for production

Period 3

Advanced prototypes

  • Combining electronics, code and mechanical design
  • Applying CAD/CAM, laser cutting and CNC introduction
  • Making or preparing parts
  • Testing for reliability
  • Improving based on results

Period 4

Design-to-manufacturing final project

  • Designing a real engineering project
  • Applying CAD/CAM, laser cutting or CNC introduction
  • Building a prototype
  • Testing functionality
  • Presenting the project professionally

Project examples

Projects that make technology visible and understandable.

The exact assignments can be tailored per group to level, pace and available lesson time. Examples include:

  • a technical design with simple requirements
  • a CAD model or digital design for a part
  • a prototype combining mechanics, electronics and code
  • a test setup for reliability
  • a real engineering project from design to manufacturing

Skills developed

More than just technology.

Your child develops technical knowledge as well as important learning attitudes such as patience, precision and the confidence to improve a first design.

  • design thinking
  • explaining technical choices
  • basic CAD/CAM understanding
  • thinking in terms of manufacturability
  • advanced prototyping
  • testing reliability
  • communicating professionally about a project

Technology and materials

Professional materials at a child's level.

Children work under guidance with suitable technologies and materials. The focus is on safe, understandable and goal-oriented learning.

Result at the end of the year

What does your child take away?

By the end of the year, your child experiences the full engineering path: idea, CAD/CAM, production preparation, laser/CNC thinking, prototype, testing and presentation of a real engineering project.
